2016 Canadian Gold and Silver

2016 brings two brand new looks to familiar Canadian coin themes. Both the one-ounce Roaring Grizzly gold and one-ounce Cougar silver feature new designs reflecting the latest refinements in artistry and minting technology.

The Roaring Grizzly is the third release in the Royal Canadian Mint’s spectacular Call of the Wild series. This series features predators that have ruled Canada for centuries, showcased in the finest .99999 gold with a high face value of $200 (CAD).

  • Contains one Troy ounce of .99999 fine gold - the purest available worldwide.
  • Individually housed in a card with assay certificate.
  • Micro-engraved maple leaf laser mark shows the number “16” when magnified, denoting the year of issue.
  • Weight and content guaranteed by the Royal Canadian Mint.

The grizzly bear is one of the most dominant predators in North America, and this exceptional gold coin would make a great addition to any gold collection.

The “Call of the Wild” series by the RCM has been tremendously popular since its inception in 2014. Beginning with the Howling Wolf and continuing with the Growling Cougar, this series does a phenomenal job of offering the highest quality gold coins to investors and collectors. With limited mintages and exceptionally high face value of $200 (CAD) it’s easy to see why so many have added these specimens to their collections.

The gorgeous grizzly bear design is the work of famed artist Pierre Leduc.

This is the first coin of a new “Canadian Predator” series, which will be struck to a maximum mintage of one million coins each.

  • Contains one Troy Ounce of .9999 fine silver.
  • Multiples of 25 come in plastic mint tubes; multiples of 500 come in sealed Mint Case “monster boxes.” Individual coins come in protective plastic flips.
  • Features a bullion finish with brilliant frosted relief on a new lined background.
  • Weight and content guaranteed by the Royal Canadian Mint.

The 2016 Cougar is the first installment of the Royal Canadian Mint’s four-coin silver “Canadian Predator” series. Each will have a maximum mintage of one million coins.

Across the wilds of western North and South America stalks the world’s fourth-largest cat, the cougar. Found in remote areas from southern Canada to Patagonia, the elusive Puma concolor enjoys the greatest range of any large wild animal in the entire Western hemisphere. This massive, tawny cat, about the size of a leopard, stalks the landscapes where its prey lives, from the seaside to the Rocky Mountains, from deserts to boreal forests.
